So here is what's up...

Dude has been with me, for about, a little less than a month now.  He was kept up at school for about 2 for the school to observe, and he seemed OK, but he was fed crickets and meal worms daily and a salad once every 3-4 days... Also didn't have any UV light and his temps were way low, I tried to argue with them but they insisted.  He would also only poop in a warm bath, now he's pretty regular, every couple of days or so.  He still gets weekly baths, now daily though because he's shedding.

So when I got him, we got his new UV light, spot/basking light, temps are right, gets fed a fresh salad every day and crickets every 3-4 days.  Always gets calcium except for on Fridays when it's vitamin time.  He mainly eats yellow squash, cactus pad and collard greens.

Here is why I'm worried.  When I took him home he weight roughly 358g.  Now he weighs 342.  I came home this evening and he was perching atop his perching area, and his beard was all puffed out and black.  He's never really been like that before.  I took him out and held him for a while and he was fine almost instantly.  He still has quite an appetite, runs around like normal, but it just seems strange that he's lost so much weight.  That he seemed upset when I got home.

Also there are his toes...  I was reading someone's post earlier that said if their toes are curled up, it's a sign of MBD.  Tonight a few of his toes were pointed up  Cry  I've never noticed them like that before.  My friend thinks I'm being over-worried and that he's just settling in to his new home, but I'm so worried.  I can't get in to the vet until Friday either Sad

He is also constantly gaping, how often is too often?  How much should a normal male beardie at approx. 3 years weigh?

Here are some pics...

Sorry for the questions, just super worried  Cry

I would definitely discuss all of this with your herp vet.  It could be relo stress or it could be some things mentioned by Sandy.  It is hard to say at this point.  You are doing the right thing by getting him into the vet.  Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I know.  It will be a long week.  Keep up the good work!  Maybe if you call and get on a waiting list for any cancellations, you can get in faster.  Just a thought.  Some offices are great about it and others aren't.  So, don't get your hopes up.

Thanks guys...

Still hoping we can get in tomorrow or sooner Sad

Is it normal for beardies to have "dingle berries" (as we like to call them), basically little bit of fecal matter under the tail?

If they go in the viv and walk across it before you can clean it, yes, then they can have some dingles on their tail.

If you are talking about dingles hanging from his relief valve, then he may be impacted or in need of finishing the task at hand.

Vet says clean bill of health!  Can even stand to lose a few grams Wink

For the gaping, said to try and lower the temps a little, and the gunk was build up in his hemipenis...

No sign of MBD, waiting for a bowel to get the parasite test run.

Thanks guys! <3

Dude is totally healthy Cheesy
